Wayfarers Reading Club
The Wayfarers are long-standing
reading groups at Ste-Geneviève United Church. There are two groups:
one meeting on Mondays at 11 am and one meeting on Wednesday
evenings at 7 pm. Both groups meet in the Choir room at the
A wayfarer is someone who travels on
foot. This a good analogy for the pace of the groups: we gather, we
talk about current events, we read together and discuss the books as
the Spirit moves us, in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. No need to read
ahead or come prepared in anyway. We travel all together, walking
through the book with no specific deadline.
The topics vary from current events to
inspirational books, to theology and Biblical scholarship. The
participants choose the books together. Monday Wayfarers are
reading the book: Joyce Rupp - Fly While You Still Have Wings and
other lessons my resilient mother taught me. Wednesday
Wayfarers are reading the book: Joseph Girzone - Never
Alone: A Personal Way to God by the author of Joshua.
One can join a group at any point, but
the start of a new book is usually a good opportunity to join.
