Ultreya
2nd Friday of the Month at 7:30 pm
At the Visioning workshop held on
Saturday April 24, 2021 several people mentioned Cursillo. At
Ste-Genny's Cursillo started in 1987. Our then minister, Rev. Ian Smith,
was on the first Montreal United Church Cursillo Weekend in February
1987. Many of our people, and people from neighbouring congregations,
have been on Cursillo weekends. For most people Cursillo made a big
impact, which also often resulted in their congregations being full of
lively activities. In order to keep the Cursillo spirit alive regular
Ultreyas were held. Montreal United Church Cursillo was active until
about 10 years ago when dwindling numbers made it impossible to

We are not planning to restart Cursillo.
However, we do want to rekindle the Cursillo spirit and to share that
with others. On May 14, 2021 we started monthly Ultreyas on the 2nd
Friday of the month from 7:30 - 8:30 pm. The program varies but it
typically includes sharing of our faith and plans of action, fellowship
and singing some of our favourite songs.
