How
Does Sunday School Work?
Sunday School is held on Sunday mornings,
except during
the holidays. Children and teachers attend the first part of the
worship service and leave for their Sunday School classes after the
children's story. We have classes for different age groups as well as a
nursery for the little ones. Our music ministry is provided by the
Christian band, Community.
We use the Seasons of the Spirit
curriculum, a
lectionary-based resource created by publishers and denominational
partners in four countries. Our children in the Sunday school are
studying and interacting with the same scriptures as the adults; it
makes for great family discussions throughout the week.
Seasons of the Spirit is
unique. More than a
curriculum – it’s a resource for our whole
congregation.
Our vision with Seasons of the
Spirit is to provide
God's people with lectionary-based, ecumenical resources that empower
all ages to be transformed in Christ as they:
- explore meaning and mystery in
the Bible;
- celebrate in worship,
sacraments, education, and
service;
- engage in ministries of love,
justice, and
witness;
- and live in inclusive
communities of faith shaped
and led by the Holy Spirit.
Age
Groups
Crèche and
Nursery: new-borns
to 5 years
The Nursery is stocked with a
variety of age
appropriate toys. Corinne or
Emilie are eager to meet the little ones and watch over them during the
church service. The room is
also equipped with
a loudspeaker, such that one can still follow the worship service.
Multi-age: 5
years and older
We are currently using the
multi-age Seasons of the
Spirit curriculum for this age group. The activities and options in
this curriculum were chosen to provide ways for children of varying
abilities and interests to engage and respond to the focus passage for
each session. Each week the children have a variety of activities from
which they can choose. The children enjoy being with children of
different ages and everyone brings their own perspective to the
discussions. The older children are encouraged to participate by
leading the prayers, reading the story and helping the younger children.

Lenten Jars
Special Lenten Jars were distributed to the
congregation the beginning of Lent. The jars were collected the Sunday
after Easter. A total of $600 was collected, which was donated to St.
Columba House. This enabled four of their children to go on Summer camp.
Announcements, etc.
We are
looking for donations of small containers for upcoming crafts.
