Every Friday morning, except July and August, announcements are e-mailed to members and adherents (those who have given their e-mail address). These announcements are also made available in printed form for those who do not have e-mail and distributed with the Worship Service Bulletin the following Sunday morning. In addition, the announcements are posted on a bulletin board in the hallway. If you like to receive our e-mail announcements, please send a note to our secretary Donna at sguc@stegennys.org.

- May 26 - 9:30 am or 10:30 am - The Official Board has mandated that during the "Announcements" time on Sunday, May 26, 2013 we will be taking a survey by a show of hands to determine the wishes of the Congregation about the Sunday Service starting time during the months of July and August. For the past few years it has been 9:30 am, but it was decided that it is time to re-visit this choice by this method to take the pulse of the Congregation on this issue.

- Food Pantry Although we do not have a lot of space to store food throughout the year, there is a continuous need within the community. If you are able, we have space for some emergency food supplies. What is suggested, are meals that are all in one ... Kraft Dinner ... Soup ... Stew ... Cereal ... Pasta & Sauce ... Instant Coffee ... Tea ... Non-perishable food that is a complete meal and does not require extra ingredients.

Saint Columba
House

Over the past several years, we have helped out Saint Columba
House with school
supplies
for children in their
community. We are doing that again this year and want to make sure that
the children receive their school supplies before the start of
the
school season. With this in mind, we are looking for donations.
Donations of the following would be greatly appreciated:
Hilroy copy books, Hilroy loose leaf, Three-hole binders, Duo-Tangs,
Pencils, Coloured Pencils (Laurentian), Blue pens, Red pens, Rulers,
Erasers, Scotch tape, Yellow-highlighters, Liquid paper, Spiral
Notebooks, Lunch Boxes, Geometry sets, Scissors, Glue Sticks, LePage
white glue, Kleenex boxes, Backpacks. Watch
for sales beginning in July. Please bring your donations to
the
church office prior to August
12, 2012 so that the items can be
delivered before school begins. Even after August 12 you can
still
bring more supplies. We will make sure they are delivered to Saint
Columba House.- SG YAYA
are asking the
congregation to take the challenge. There
is always the dilemma at church events & Sunday after church
fellowship time of "do we use styrofoam" or put out the mugs, but not
everyone is up to the task of washing all the dishes. In order
for
our church to go green, we are asking you to bring your mug to church
(and of course bring it back home again). In case you forget, do not
despair, feel free to use one of the mugs from the kitchen but please
take 1 minute to wash & dry it afterward.
- Ste-Genny's "Community"
is looking for a couple of Vocalists and a Keyboard Player to join our
musical outreach committee. If you are looking for a
musical group to join, or know of someone who would be interested,
please contact Lisa Byer at community@stegennys.org
- The
West-Island Palliative Care Residence is providing bereavement support
services for adults, youth and children. See the details here.
WIPCR also sponsors the interactive website goodbyeaurevoir.com for
teens helping teens through grief.
- Volunteers needed. Are you interested? See details here.
- Hearing Assistance devices are available for those who have difficulty hearing the worship service. To obtain a device for use during the service, speak with Gerard Gouw or Ross Wilson. We also have a few Large Print More Voices Hymn books available. Please ask Gerard Gouw.

- Ste-Genny's is trying to be become more environmentally friendly! We are looking for a volunteer (or a couple of volunteers) to take a recycling box home weekly in order to help with this project. The initial stages would be to simply recycle paper and plastic products. Please contact Lisa Byer, Diane Milford or the church office for details.
- Pre-Authorized Remittance Program - also known as PAR - … What is PAR? PAR is a great way to simplify making your financial contribution to Ste-Genny's. You don't need to fill out weekly offering envelopes and you don't have the worry of having to "catch up" if you are unable to make it to church because of sickness or vacation. All you have to do is ask Ross Wilson, Ste-Genny's envelope steward, or Donna Olinik, our church secretary, or any member of the Finance Committee for a PAR authorization form. The form is also available on-line here. The form is easy to complete and should be returned to Ross so you can be entered in the PAR program. All the members of the Finance Committee are ready and willing to answer any questions you may have about PAR. Your participation will make a difference.

- Help Wanted - Community is looking for a roadie/sound person to man the controls during our practices and performances. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Byer-de Wever by e-mail, or speak to her after the Sunday Service.

- STAMPS NEEDED: In order to save on office costs, would you donate some stamps to the church office? You could bring them to the office and leave them in the designated envelope on my desk, or mail them to the church if you do not plan to be in the building in the near future! church home to run smoothly, various volunteer positions need to be
filled
to make the jobs run smoothly. If you are interested in being added to
any (or all) of the following positions, your help would be greatly
appreciated. (If you are already participating, thank you for your
continued support!) The more volunteers we have, the longer
the
period between your personal assignments to “work”

In order to keep in touch with our members, if you notice someone missing / hasn’t returned, let us know so that they can be contacted. We want to keep the lines of communication open and find out why some members have stopped attending!

If you have a service you would like to offer to our members, let the office know so that we can pass on the information (painting, washing windows, basic house cleaning, driving to appointments, etc.).

If you have a need for aid / service in any area let the office know so that we can do our best to find the help you need.

Consider
Becoming a New
Member
We
welcome new members. If you are not currently a member at
Ste-Geneviève United and would like to make Ste-Genny's your
home, consider becoming a member. Membership comes with its privileges,
such as being able to take full part in congregational decision making.
If
you are a youth of age 14 or older, we offer confirmation classes.
Confirmation classes
are held over a period of eight weeks leading up to a
confirmation service on Palm / Passion Sunday.
If
you are currently a member at another congregation or parish, you
can become a member at Ste-Genny's through Transfer of Membership or
Reaffirmation of Faith. We have Reception of New Members a few times
per year. The last date for Reception
of New Members by Transfer or
Re-Affirmation of Faith was Sunday,
December 2, 2012,
during the worship service. If
you are interested in becoming a member at Ste-Genny's, please inform
Rev. Ian Smith such that we can schedule a Reception of New Members.
Also, if you are transferring from another congregation or denomination
of the
Reformed
Church Tradition (i.e. United Church, Presbyterian, etc.), please
contact your
former congregation to arrange for your Transfer Certificate
to be sent to Ste-Geneviève United. The

The
HEALING
PATHWAY team has a Prayer
Shawl Ministry. The Prayer Shawls are being blessed by Rev.
Ian Smith and members of the Healing Pathway Team at a Prayer Shawl
Blessing Ceremony and then given to those seeking God's Healing and
Comfort. If you would like to support our new Prayer Shawl Ministry by
knitting a prayer shawl or donating some wool, please speak to a member
of our team.
