Every Friday morning, except July and August, announcements are e-mailed to members and adherents (those who have given their e-mail address). These announcements are also made available in printed form for those who do not have e-mail and distributed with the Worship Service Bulletin the following Sunday morning. In addition, the announcements are posted on a bulletin board in the hallway. If you like to receive our e-mail announcements, please send a note to our secretary Donna at
sguc@stegennys.org.

Volunteers Needed: Are You Interested?

In order to help your church home to run smoothly, various volunteer positions need to be filled to make the jobs run smoothly. If you are interested in being added to any (or all) of the following positions, your help would be greatly appreciated. (If you are already participating, thank you for your continued support!) The more volunteers we have, the longer the period between your personal assignments to “work” the position!
  • To Serve Communion?
  • To Greet on Sunday Mornings?
  • To Collect / Count the Offering?
  • To Do Data Entry?
  • To Read the Scripture Lessons?
  • To Lead our Children in Sunday School?
  • To Lead our Youth?
  • To Sing in the Choir?
  • To Prepare, Set up and/or Serve Coffee & Tea after the Service for our Time of Fellowship?
  • To Help with Building Maintenance?
If your answer is YES to any of the above, and you are not currently on the volunteer list, please let the office know of your interest and someone will be in touch with you soon! Please fill in the form here and submit it to the office.

Take Note of the Following

  • If you see someone new, please introduce yourself and make them feel welcome.

  • If you are new, first of all WELCOME. Feel free to introduce yourself (to the greeters at the door, to our Minister, Rev. Ian Smith, to others). We pray that you will experience meaningful Worship at Ste-Genny's, as we are commonly known.

  • In order to keep in touch with our members, if you notice someone missing / hasn’t returned, let us know so that they can be contacted. We want to keep the lines of communication open and find out why some members have stopped attending!

  • If you have a service you would like to offer to our members, let the office know so that we can pass on the information (painting, washing windows, basic house cleaning, driving to appointments, etc.).

  • If you have a need for aid / service in any area let the office know so that we can do our best to find the help you need.

  • Please let the office know if you know of anyone who is sick or in distress and in need of our prayers.

welcomeConsider Becoming a New Member
We welcome new members. If you are not currently a member at Ste-Geneviève United and would like to make Ste-Genny's your home, consider becoming a member. Membership comes with its privileges, such as being able to take full part in congregational decision making.

If you are a youth of age 14 or older, we offer confirmation classes. Confirmation classes are usually held over a period of about 7 weeks leading up to a confirmation service on Palm / Passion Sunday. Our last confirmation classes started February 11, 2010. The brochure with further information, including the schedule of classes and the registration form is available here. If you have any further questions about confirmation you can always contact our minister, Rev. Ian Smith.

If you are currently a member at another congregation or parish, you can become a member at Ste-Genny's through Transfer of Membership or Reaffirmation of Faith. We have Reception of New Members a few times per year. The last "Reception of New Members" by Transfer or Re-Affirmation of Faith took place on Sunday, November 1, 2009 during the service. If you are transferring from another congregation of the Reformed Tradition (i.e. United Church, Presbyterian, etc.), please contact your former congregation to arrange for your Transfer Certificate to be sent to Ste-Geneviève United. The New Member registration form is available here. Please contact the office for further information.

Bulletin and E-mail Announcements
As much as possible, all information should be given to Donna prior to Wednesday to be included in the Church bulletin. Announcements from the pulpit should be kept to a minimum.

Every Friday morning, except July and August, announcements are e-mailed to members and adherents. Our e-mail messages are scanned for viruses on all incoming and outgoing mail! We want to save on expenses and, by printing fewer inserts, we can cut costs. These announcements are also made available in printed form for those who do not have e-mail and distributed with the Worship Service Bulletin the following Sunday morning. In addition, the announcements are posted on a bulletin board in the hallway. If you are not currently receiving our e-mail announcements, and would like to receive them, please send an e-mail to sguc@stegennys.org. Please add Donna to your "favourites" so that her mail does not fall into junk mail or spam!

Healing Pathway Prayer Shawls
The HEALING PATHWAY team has a Prayer Shawl Ministry. The Prayer Shawls are being blessed by Rev. Ian Smith and members of the Healing Pathway Team at a Prayer Shawl Blessing Ceremony and then given to those seeking God's Healing and Comfort. If you would like to support our new Prayer Shawl Ministry by knitting a prayer shawl or donating some wool, please speak to a member of our team.

Somebody Else

I know a fellow named “Somebody Else”
There’s nothing this fellow can’t do.
He’s busy from morning ‘til late at night
While he’s substituting for you.
You’re asked to do this, or asked to do that
And what is your ready reply?
I think you’d better get somebody else
He’ll do much better than I.
So much to do in this weary old world,
So much and the workers are few.
And “Somebody Else” is weary and worn
From substituting for you.
Next time you are asked to do something,
Just give them this reply.
If somebody else can give time and self,
Then for goodness sake, so can I!
