Canada’s Champion of Change: Helping the Homeless

As a young child, Hannah Taylor vividly recalls the day her mother made a wrong turn down a downtown Winnipeg alley, and Hannah caught sight of a homeless man eating out of a dumpster. The experience shocked her, and for the next year she would ask her mother how ‘that man’ was doing.

Soon, Hannah started painting lady bugs – for her a sign of good luck – onto little glass baby jars and collecting spare change for the homeless at school. The ambitious youngster then went on to found the Lady Bug Foundation in order to build a larger network of help, so far raising well in excess of $2 million from both corporate and individual donors.

Hannah’s story as one of the Top 50 Champions of Change is available on the CBC website here: http://www.cbc.ca/change/2010/10/hannah-taylor.html.
